The good news is that the government has confirmed that the massive increase in probate fees which has been an on-again, off-again spectre hanging over the administration of estates, has been shelved. The current fixed fees may be reviewed (so minor increases can be expected) but the idea of a huge hike in fees (see previous posts for details) will not go ahead. At least, not under this government, for now. After an election, though – who knows?
